Specifications
To run Track Selling System Courses from the Internet
- 200MHz
Pentium with 32MB RAM.
- 640x480
256-color video (800x600 is recommended).
- Windows
95, 98, NT, 2000, and XP.
- For students
at Web server installations, Netscape Navigator versions 4.51 through
4.7x or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher are required. An Authorware
plug-in is used for course simulations but is not required to run Track
Selling System courses. It can be installed the first time you take
a course by following the instructions shown on the Web page.
- Effective
June 2003, Netscape Navigator will no longer be supported.
Plug-ins
Required by Track Selling System Courses
No downloading of proprietary players or courses is required. An Authorware
Web Player version 4.0.3F1 (previously known as Shockwave) plug-in is
used for some course simulations, but is not required to take a course.
It can easily be downloaded and installed from the Track Selling System
Web site the first time you take a course by following the instructions
on the Web page. For Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or higher, the full ActiveX
version of the Authorware Web Player plug-in (version 5.2.0.61) will
be installed. Animated procedural simulations created with Flash are
now found in some new courses.
Bandwidth
Information
- Each
course screen averages 16K. Take the course screen average and multiply
it by the number of simultaneous users, and expect that each user will
page forward about every 30 seconds. Thus, each user will be calling
about .5 K per second.
- What is
the size of your link or bandwidth to the Internet? Burstable service
with continuous traffic between 0 and 2 MB, but potential to burst to
10MB.
